Butterflies, bees and other pollinators: Meet Scotney Castle's butterfly surveyor

Pollinating insects are essential to our future but their numbers are in decline in the UK. Join one of our volunteer butterfly surveyors who’ll brief you on the different flying insects you’re likely to see and then, weather permitting, take a walk around the walled garden to see what’s on the wing. You’ll learn how we record the number and variety of butterflies that visit Scotney, and what you can do in your own garden to boost its bee and butterfly appeal.This free ‘walk and talk’ workshop is part of Scotney’s Great Big Green Week Festival and is included with your admission (free for NT members) but, as places are limited, you should reserve your place using the link below to avoid disappointment. Once on the A21 please follow the brown tourist information signs with the National Trust oak leaf for Scotney Castle. Please note there is no access via Finchcocks, Goudhurst.

Parking
All visitors should book their parking in advance via the Scotney website or the NT app. You can book up to 9am on the day of your visit, subject to spaces being available. Accessible parking spaces are available. If you experience any difficulties booking online please call 0344 249 1895. Please note that if the car park is full and you have not reserved your parking space you will not be able to enter.

Discover walks, talks and tours at the National Trust’s Scotney Castle in Lamberhurst near Tunbridge Wells this Great Big Green Week. Hear from Scotney’s specialist garden and ranger team and learn about bees, butterflies, dragonflies and pollinators, amphibians and reptiles, as well as gardening for climate change, growing vegetables and cut flowers. Entry included with admission (free for NT members). Details of events are given on the GBGW and Scotney websites. Places are limited so please book in advance.
