Down to Nature

Our Nature Discovery Day, down by the River at Mill Meadows, kicks off Henley’s GBGW week on Saturday 8th June, 10-2pm.

It includes something for everyone, with lots of nature-focused activities for all ages. Activities include:

  • Guided Wildflower Walk around Marsh Meadows (30 minutes)
  • Tree Trail on Mill Meadows (30 minutes)
  • Butterfly Safari on Marsh Meadows
  • Learning to take Wildlife Photography
  • Invertebrates and Bug Hunt on the Meadows
  • Thames21 talk in the River and Rowing Museum
  • Wildlife Trail along the Cold Bath Stream
  • Family Scavenger Hunt
  • Children’s Bird Bingo
  • Wildlife Trust Treasure Hunt
  • Night-time wildlife: looking at the catch in the Night Trap

Picnics welcome.

Visit the River and Rowing Museum’s Kirkham Gallery to view the exhibition of the Schools Environmental Science Challenge on the theme of ‘Pollution’, including artwork, creative writing, science and engineering projects.

We’ll be running activities outside on Mill and Marsh Meadows, just outside the River and Rowing Museum.

There is no need to register for this event, just turn up on the day.

More about Henley on Thames Great Big Green Week

A full week of environmentally green activities is programmed for Henley’s residents to enjoy during Henley’s Great Big Green Week this year from 8th – 16th June, with lots of different sectors of the community coming together to show how Henley is taking action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
