Thursday 6 June

Emma Johnson's Orchestra for the Environment

The top-drawer string ensemble, directed by leading clarinet soloist Emma Johnson, plays Puccini’s Crisantemi, Vaughan Williams Fantasia, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Emma’s poignant new piece Tree of Life, which was prompted by the climate emergency and draws inspiration from nature and from the hope that-by acting together-we can mitigate the effects of climate change.

The Orchestra for the Environment is a group of hand-picked virtuoso players who share concerns about the planet, endeavor to travel in the greenest way and make a point of performing music that celebrates the natural world.
