Great Green Week is the Uk”s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect Nature .
We will be leading a history hike on the North Downs Way . We will be talking about North Down”s Way efforts of rewilding and nature conservation and also about history of the route .
We will start the walk at Box Hill near the village of Westhumble. After crossing the river Mole the we will climbs to the summit of the famous beauty spot of Box Hill. From here there are views towards Dorking and Reigate. From Box Hill the path rounds several old (and one active) quarry before again climbing Juniper Hill, Colley Hill and Reigate hill, see Reigate Fort built around the end of the reign of Queen Victoria to defend London from the French Invasion, the Inglis memorial and stunning views. As after every walk we can have a well deserved pint or a glass of wine at the Feathers.
Meeting at 09.30 at Boxhill Westhumble train station
30% of the ticket price will be donated to North Downs Way
The walk is approximately 16 km /10.5 miles
What to bring :
Walking shoes and appropriate clothes for a day out, snacks and plenty of water /
