Chester, Cheshire is going green in support of the Great Big Green Week.
Venues across the city will be lit up by night and Chester Cathedral will host the winning entries from the Green Expo Photographic Competition, open to all ages and abilities, deadline 31st May.
The Green Expo Youth Conference for schools in the region is held at Chester University on Friday June 14
A map available across the city and at the Visitor’s centre will show over 100 locations and activities involved, culminating in Chester Green Weekend (June 15-16) at Grosvenor Park in the city centre. This incorporates the Sustainable Cheshire Fair, the 3rd year of Green Expo and 2nd of the Active Travel Festival (ATFest).
The Sustainable Living Zone will be organised by Eco Communities who put on the Sustainable Fairs in the park. You will find artisan stalls and our first Luggage Rummage.
The Innovation Zone by Green Expo will bring you ideas of how to make your home more environmentally friendly and demonstrate alternative energy solutions and other areas of green innovation from companies and organisations. There will also be a programme of Talks in the Park.
The Nature Zone will be full of family friendly fun activities from the likes of Chester Zoo and Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
Active Travel Fest will host an Active Travel Zone on Sunday 16th June in Town Hall Square and Grosvenor Park with a range of activities to encourage people to walk, bike and trike into and around the city.
Oh Design Foundation will have sustainable activities and workshops over the weekend.
